Big Inclusion 4

Big Inclusion 4 – Shamiso Adetona

We are delighted to have our very own Shamiso Adetona who is our Team Assistant sharing her Inclusion Big 4 with us today. Shamiso supports us to make the world a more inclusive place in a variety of ways including research, design and marketing. Here is what Shamiso had to say.

1. In your experience, why do you think diversity, equity and inclusion are important?

I believe that people should not need to fight to get equal and fair treatment. At the moment workplaces are not fair for everyone and we need to fix that, everyone should have truly equal opportunities to succeed at work. Diversity and inclusion is one solution.

2. What do you see as the biggest opportunities that organisations can take right now and how do you suggest they leverage this?

The biggest opportunity I think is for leaders to get educated and to educate their organisations. It is fine that they do not know everything yet but there is no reason not to get educated. They cannot make the changes needed if they don’t know where to start so education is very important.

3. What do you think is the biggest challenge organisations are facing when it comes to diversity, equity and inclusion?

The dying down of the Black Matters movement. It was a focus a few years ago but it is sad to see how quickly leaders allow other things to take over. We need leaders to stay focussed and work to solve these issues otherwise they won’t go away.

4. What do you love about what you do?

It helps me to be creative which I really like and I like the fact that my work is helping to make the world a better place.
