Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced
– James Baldwin
Ineke Houtenbos is a training consultant with a long standing background in enabling others’ learning in the fields of safeguarding, child protection, equity and inclusion. She has a Bsc in Social Pedagogy, and is a CIPD Associate with a diploma in Learning and Development for Managers.
The Magic I bring to the team: Ineke is of mixed heritage: a Dutch father and a Tanzanian mother and was born and raised in the Middle East. She has travelled to Africa, the Far East and Europe and worked in Holland, the United States, Northern Ireland and the UK. She is a mother of two daughters and alongside her role at the UK’s largest child protection charity she is also a Director at JoinHer and an Associate consultant with MIP. These experiences give Ineke a unique view of the world – Maya Angelou said that people don’t always remember what you taught them, but they do remember how you made them feel. This resonates deeply with her and she works hard to be authentic, honest, share stories and ensure that people she works with feel seen, appreciated and listened to. This builds positive working relationships and an empathic work environment. These are very important to Ineke as she believes that this allows people to thrive, even when talking about difficult subjects.
I love working with people – it is always a reciprocal opportunity to grow and learn. Learning anything new is an act of courage and I appreciate everyone who is open to engage in seeing the world from another’s point of view, learning new concepts and theory.
I am an instructor in Krav Maga, which is an Israeli martial art.
