Maria Jesus Orihuela Bolaino

Diversity and Inclusion Consultant

Maria is a multilingual, multicultural, dynamic and experienced trainer, coach and facilitator who is passionate about creating work environments where everyone can thrive.

Maria started work life in advertising running complex localisation projects and working her way up to Team-Lead. Whilst she enjoyed the diverse environment that a transcreation agency brings with it, she ultimately sought more people-focused and purpose-driven work.

Through her own experience of workplace stress she went on a mission to help reduce stress at work and help others find meaningful work. During her studies for her Career Coaching degree, she found her way into the world of Professional Training and Coaching and has since, for the past 13 years, delivered a multitude of Leadership and Soft skills programs across varying industries helping professionals at all levels, from graduates to C-suite, to build capability and confidence. She came to EDI in 2020 and has since facilitated a multitude of sessions in this area including Inclusive Leadership, Inclusive Interviewing and Bias-Training.

What ties all of Maria’s work together is her passion for interpersonal communication and how it shapes the world we create around us. She holds a BA and MA in Communication and Cultural Studies.

Known for her energetic and personable style she is able to engage people F2F and in virtual settings alike. Maria’s cosmopolitan background—originally from Spain, raised in Germany with a stint in France, and now based in the UK—enables her to relate to people from lots of different backgrounds.

Outside of work, she can be found on the dancefloor or the badminton court.

I love working with people and creating a buzz in a room, but it feels especially rewarding to get people thinking and to get them to challenge their beliefs. I love to think that what I do helps create more inclusive workplaces.

People often think that I am French and they’re surprised to hear that I am in fact Spanish with a slight German accent due to my upbringing in Germany.
