Maria Takaendisa

Diversity and Inclusion Consultant

Maria is a transformative Ubuntu Coach, Organisational Consultant and Trauma Informed Facilitator. She is a qualified Family/Systemic Psychotherapist. Her approach to coaching and consultancy is based on relational and unconscious approaches and cemented in neuroscience.

Maria is a doctoral candidate studying Organisational Consultancy at the Tavistock.

Maria is a poetic facilitator. Her style of delivery has been described as mesmerising. She uses music and storytelling as a medium to facilitate conversations, invite introspection and create space for change to happen inside out.

Maria is a Change practitioner. She has a passion for bringing out the best in people and giving voice to the silenced. She believes everyone has something to say. She cultivates curiosity through learning to, listen to understand not listen to respond. She works on the mantra that you can change culture one conversation at a time.

Maria foregrounds that people live their lives as stories and as such are authors of these stories.  Her therapeutic skills afford her the ability to hold space for difficult conversations by paying attention to the different stories that influence how one arrives at a conversation. As a trauma informed consultant and coach, Maria uses the body as a medium for communication.

Maria has a passion for empowering people and co-creating spaces that are psychologically safe-enough. This means that her work around justice incorporates trauma specifically racial trauma. Her interest in trauma has led her to develop expertise in organisational trauma, systemic trauma, collective trauma, and collective healing. Maria is currently studying trauma. She has an interest in taking people`s trauma responses out of the clinical, therapeutic context into the business world so as to humanise organisations and build healthy teams. A healthy team is a productive team.

Maria brings expertise from various sectors namely Film industry, SME`s, Charities, Local Authorities and Higher Education Institutions. She has core expertise in Executive and leadership coaching, Group Coaching, Team Coaching, Group dynamics and conflict resolution, Mediation, Residential facilitation, Reflective space facilitation, Team away day facilitation, Organisational development, Justice and Programme development.

My job is a double-edged sword. There is so much pain in the courage it takes to facilitate and hold space for difficult conversations and yet this pain is quickly numbed when my conversational partner shares that they have been heard. They have been seen. They now understand why they were behaving in a certain way. I love empowering people. I love bringing out the best in people.

My age. Thank God for grey hair!
